ECPR General Conference 12 – 15 August 2024, University College Dublin
d@rts was present at the general conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) at the University College of Dublin (Ireland). As the leader of the WP1, Katja Mäkinen gave a presentation based on the ongoing policy analysis of the WP1.
The presentation scrutinised the cultural and education policies of the European Union and the Council of Europe. The analysis focused on whether and how notions of cultural and global citizenship were produced in the policy documents and how the core dimensions of citizenship – access, rights, responsibilities and identity – were present in these constructions.
It also paid attention to what kind of competencies, such as a competence for dialogue, were linked to citizenship in the documents. The panel in Dublin concluded that young citizens need and deserve support in building their future. d@rts seeks to explore how performing arts education could contribute to this.
