Work Package 2

Description

How can the value and impact of cultural literacy and cultural literacy education in different EU member states be assessed?

Work package 2 (WP2) investigates the value of cultural literacy by analysing the state of the art of cultural literacy education in member states. Within a comparative large-scale assessment-design, the cultural literacy assessment-frameworks developed in Work Package 5 will be distributed to stakeholders for data acquisition, thus generating an indicative sample of formal and non-formal educational partners in all selected countries. This will ensure coverage of multiple models of cultural literacy education, implementation, investment and development, and will also assess cultural literacy education, resources and teaching approaches in the performing arts. Data will be collected digitally. Institutions will be asked to state their goals and visions with respect to cultural literacy education, attending to the organisational element of the process.

Our research also includes interviews and workshop discussions with people involved in arts and arts education as well as an online exercise using the eDelphi tool to develop a common understanding of how cultural literacy education is currently implemented and how it could be improved. We aim to deepen understanding of cultural literacy in education. Our results will be discussed with partners from Work Package 1 and Work Package 7.
